Role Overview: Security Engineering Internship - Summer 2026
As a Qualcomm Security Engineering Intern, you'll collaborate with world-class engineers to enhance the security of systems and products powering billions of mobile, IoT, and connectivity devices. You'll gain hands-on experience protecting real-world devices and systems from attacks. Qualcomm values collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing. You'll work cross-functionally with engineers and stakeholders to secure complex infrastructure and applications.
This Internship Supports Three Technical Tracks:
- Product Security Engineering
- Secure Systems Engineering
- Cybersecurity Engineering

Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science (CS), Security, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Must be available for 11–14 weeks during Summer 2026 (May–September).
- Expected graduation date of November 2026 or later.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates actively pursuing a degree with an anticipated graduation between November 2026 and June 2027.
Track 1: Product Security Engineering
- Experience in threat modeling, security risk assessment, fuzzing, program analysis, exploit countermeasures, cryptographic assessment, cellular and wireless security, and incident response.
- Skills in program analysis (source and binary), supply chain security, vulnerability research, exploit mitigations, secure execution environments, hardware security, AI model security.
- 1+ years of academic experience in computer systems security or embedded device security.
- Strong technical problem-solving and programming skills.
- Preferred candidates are studying toward an MS or Ph.D. in a related field.
Track 2: Secure Systems Engineering
- Experience in secure OS features, hypervisors, secure boot, key management, automotive safety/security, and programmatic security improvements.
- Knowledge of systems security, operating systems, hypervisors, trusted execution environments.
- Strong programming skills and interest in securing mobile devices and programming languages.
- 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python.
- Preferred candidates are studying toward a BS or MS in ECE, CS, Math, or related field.
Track 3: Cybersecurity Engineering
- Experience in OT security, application security, security architecture, GRC, threat hunting, incident response, automation, and risk management.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, statistics, ML/AI, security frameworks, endpoint security, cryptography, forensics, phishing, malware analysis.
- Experience with Windows & Linux (any distribution).
- Programming experience in Java, C, C++, C#, Go, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl.
- Preferred candidates are studying toward a BS in CS, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field.
