Mission for the Manager, Site Reliability Engineering
Qonto is seeking a Manager, Site Reliability Engineering to rebuild a functional management layer within their Platform team. This role is crucial for creating a simpler, more resilient, and reliable infrastructure. You will lead a team of approximately 8 engineers, collaborating directly with Victor, the Head of SRE. Your primary goals will be to reduce incident noise, accelerate delivery, and enhance platform reliability, all while adhering to banking license constraints and compliance requirements. Your influence will extend across Backend, Security, Data, Frontend, and Mobile teams, helping Qonto serve one million SMEs by 2025 with a trustworthy platform.
As a Manager, Site Reliability Engineering at Qonto, you will:
- Spot and kill waste: Identify and eliminate unnecessary steps, ceremonies, and costs (logging, NAT, CI queues). Simplify tooling and operational debt, focusing relentlessly on outcomes over process.
- Drive continuous improvement: Implement Lean methodologies like Gemba walks, Kaizen sessions, and PDCA cycles. Create fast feedback loops and ensure optimal behavior becomes the default through automation and smart tooling.
- Lead incident response and post-mortems: Triage production incidents, make swift decisions under pressure, conduct post-mortems focused on actionable solutions (not blame), and systematically reduce the change failure rate.
- Coach your team from senior level to staff one: Provide direct, factual feedback through 1:1s, empower engineers to build ownership and communication skills, and establish clear progression paths.
- Stabilize execution and reliability: Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical services, reduce Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR), prioritize the incident backlog, and ensure consistent delivery during transitions.

- First experience of SRE management: You have experience leading a team, coaching engineers, and providing effective feedback for growth.
- Incident leadership: Proven ability to triage production incidents, make decisions under pressure, communicate clearly during crises, and run post-mortems that result in tangible actions, reducing MTTR and change failure rate.
- Outcome-oriented and highly autonomous: You prioritize results over rigid processes, provide direct and factual feedback, and maintain high emotional stability.
