Overview

The Senior Technical Writer at QinetiQ US is responsible for creating, maintaining, and coordinating comprehensive technical documentation for the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance (ASRR) system. Working closely with the U.S. Army, foreign military clients, and engineering teams, you will ensure high-quality documentation supports ISR systems integration, testing, and operations.

Position Overview

As the Senior Technical Writer, you will develop detailed technical documentation including system specifications, architecture documents, user guides, test plans and maintenance manuals for ASRR program areas. You will coordinate documentation efforts across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance with military standards and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Documentation Development: Produce technical manuals, user guides, installation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Contract Deliverable Management: Create reports, compliance documentation and interface technical documents.
  • Standards Compliance and Quality Assurance: Implement documentation standards, perform quality checks, and manage version control.
  • Engineering Support and Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams for documentation accuracy during testing and integration.
  • Documentation Coordination: Manage production schedules and coordinate with customer representatives and contractors.
  • System Development and Field Support: Create field-ready guides and support operational deployments.
  • Customer Interface: Act as the technical liaison for documentation with military clients.

Required & Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Systems Engineering or related STEM field with 4-7 years of technical writing experience in military or aerospace systems. Experience with ISR technologies (EO/IR, radar, SIGINT) is essential, along with proficiency in documentation tools such as Windchill and content management systems. A SECRET or higher security clearance is required.
