IT Project Manager at QBE Europe
QBE Europe is seeking an IT Project Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent, and hybrid basis in London. This role focuses on driving change within the Insurance sector, specifically for QBE Portfolio Solutions (QPS), a market-leading smart-follow business within QBE Europe’s International Markets division.
As an IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and oversight of key projects or workstreams within a larger change program. These projects typically range from £1-2 million and involve managing cross-functional teams, external vendors, and close collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure delivery within scope, on time, and within budget. Clear communication and diligent change management are crucial for success in this role.

Your new role
- Spearhead and oversee the end-to-end management of projects for QPS, ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, and budget, followed by a smooth transition into day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate with Business, Transformation Office, and Data teams to understand and shape initiatives, leveraging new technical capabilities and developing clear business cases outlining project timelines, costs, and benefits for approval.
- Create and manage comprehensive project and resource plans to ensure the successful delivery of business requirements.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to keep all relevant teams informed with key messages and progress updates.
- Set, manage, and report on project budgets effectively, ensuring all costs remain within agreed limits.
- Proactively identify and effectively manage project risks and issues, implementing solutions and coordinating testing to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Identify and manage dependencies with other projects or internal business areas/stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and business stakeholders to ensure overall project success.
- Lead and support the project team, manage third-party resources, and ensure effective coordination of project tasks and responsibilities, aligning all delivery stages to project assurance standards.
About You
- Proven experience in project management, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Demonstrated great leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain objectivity and fairness, always reflecting the facts and offering a balanced view.
- Proactive in identifying and preventing or mitigating potential issues before they arise.
- Adept at building and managing strong relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and effectively resolving any issues.
- Ability to respond to shifting priorities with urgency and a strong sense of drive.
- Committed to communicating openly and honestly, fostering a culture of transparency and trust.
- Skilled in the creation of clear, impactful reports, proposals, and presentations that engage and inform.
- Experienced in effectively managing project budgets, ensuring financial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
- Capable of leading and motivating multi-skilled teams, maximizing their potential to achieve successful outcomes.
- Awareness of data governance and how it supports the delivery of effective analytical outcomes.
- Qualifications in Project/Programme Management are desirable.
