Job Description

About Qantas

At Qantas, we’re committed to creating an environment where our people can thrive. We take pride in solving complex challenges together, supporting each other, and delivering safe and reliable operations for our customers. You’ll be part of a team that values initiative, collaboration and continuous improvement.

The Role of a Technology Manager

The Technology Manager governs Qantas mobility technical products through the continuous improvement lifecycle and acts as a lead to bring the Qantas technology roadmap to life, aligning business actions with long-term tech strategy. This permanent, full-time opportunity is located at Qantas Head Campus in Mascot.

This role requires a leader with a customer-centric mindset, responsible for partnering with senior leaders and technology teams to drive strategy and deliver solutions across IT and the wider Qantas Group. The Technology Manager is accountable, through their squads, for delivering product strategies, features, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives, while fostering a culture of innovation and uplift across both direct and indirect team members. This position provides a single point of accountability across Plan, Build, and Run for designated mobility products and their underlying technology components.

You will focus on leading the enterprise strategy, governance, and uplift of mobility capabilities across the organisation. This includes oversight of enterprise mobility, device administration, Mobile Application Management using Microsoft Intune and Omnissa Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and the broader mobile ecosystem governance. You will be responsible for ensuring these mobility platforms are effectively managed, secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs, while driving adoption and modernisation initiatives across the organisation.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience developing and delivering product strategy and roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders, informed by business economics, revenue drivers, product performance, market insights, and the broader competitive, regulatory, and industry landscape.
  • Strong vendor management capability, including oversight of financial, contractual, and service obligations (e.g., Service Level Management).
  • Expertise in product planning, prioritisation of roadmaps, and sequencing delivery to meet strategic outcomes.
  • Ability to provide insights for economic decision-making by facilitating estimation of features and capabilities.
  • Experience managing quality of service and operational stability, including IT risk and compliance management, service improvement initiatives, and contributing to service management strategies.
  • 5+ years’ experience in large enterprises and 3+ years in agile environments (or equivalent).
  • Solid background in operational service management.
  • Airline technology experience, ideally within Qantas.
  • Proven people leadership experience across varied team structures.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to solve or lead the solving of complex, large-scale strategic problems.
  • Expert stakeholder management across business and technical domains.
  • Experience coaching Agile mindsets and ways of working.
  • Skilled in designing and facilitating fit-for-purpose workshops that deliver defined outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and align business unit processes to enterprise-wide processes.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, combined with strong commercial and business acumen.
