The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the corporate legal department within the PwC organization. OGC is located at the Amsterdam office and is divided into various teams, including Labor Law, Corporate Affairs, Privacy/Data Protection Office, and Commercial Affairs. The department currently has over thirty colleagues, and the various teams are led by the Head of Legal Affairs. The legal professionals have a lot of personal responsibility and a great degree of freedom in organizing their work. Collegiality is high, and the atmosphere is good. The General Counsel of PwC Nederland has ultimate responsibility.
The Privacy/Data Protection Office is part of OGC. The team consists of 5 colleagues and is responsible for advising, implementing, and monitoring compliance with the GDPR and other applicable laws and regulations (Dora, AI Act, NIS 2, etc.) concerning the processing of (personal) data. The Privacy/Data Protection Office works closely with other departments such as ITS, Security Office, other teams within OGC, and the Risk & Quality departments.
What You'll Do as a Data Protection Officer
In this role, you will independently handle various topics within the Data Protection team. The focus of this position will be on the technical side of Data Protection. This includes the following areas:
- Privacy by design and default and implementation of technical applications.
- Performing and supervising audits/spot checks and assessments to measure the implementation and execution of the GDPR.
- Monitoring compliance with privacy regulations within the IT landscape.
- Monitoring data flows within the organization.
- Handling data incidents.
- Drafting/reviewing policies and policy documents in the field of data protection.
- Assessing contractual conditions in the field of data protection (e.g., GDPR, Dora, AI Act).
What You'll Bring to PwC Nederland
You are a solution-oriented thinker and can translate complex questions into practical solutions. You enjoy working in a team and are available for a minimum of 32 hours per week. Additionally, you possess:
- A completed university master's degree in law with an affinity for privacy law, IT law, or information management.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations surrounding the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Dutch law.
- Affinity with the implementation of data protection technology and/or operational experience (solutions in the field of data governance, privacy management, anonymization, etc.).
- Excellent command of both the Dutch and English languages, both written and spoken.
