Job Description

About the Tax Transformation Team

The Tax Transformation team at PwC Ireland collaborates with the Tax practice and firm-wide enabling functions (BES, XLOS teams) to implement a dynamic operating model. This initiative is crucial for ensuring the future profitability and sustained growth of the practice. The ongoing transformation is significant, influencing all facets of the tax operations.

The Opportunity

This is a permanent role within the Tax practice, reporting ultimately to the Tax Transformation Partner, with immediate lines to Directors on the transformation team. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about transformation, and recognizes the pivotal role technology plays in driving change. You will be motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact, working closely with transformation directors on assigned work streams and influencing program design. This role also involves close collaboration with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to support progress, solve complex problems, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Driving Change

The extensive scale of transformation impacts every area of the Tax practice. With the advancements in AI and other emerging technologies, alongside evolving demographics and labor supply challenges, the Tax practice must transform to remain competitive and relevant to clients. The core objective for the Tax Transformation team is to evolve our operating and delivery model to build a sustainable tax practice for the long term. Enablers such as AI, data, automation, and technology, coupled with offshore and onshore centers of excellence, are integral to a redesigned delivery model. Consequently, the successful adoption of these enablers will shape our people model and the skills required for success within this new operating framework. This Tax Transformation Manager role demands the ability to navigate between technology, transformation, communications, and change management workstreams effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with transformation directors to design and deliver defined workstreams within broader transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Technology, and other enabling functions to design and implement process improvements.
  • Support the development and execution of change management plans, including communications, training, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the presentation and communication of the transformation plans to appropriate audiences, including senior stakeholders and peer groups.
  • Utilize data and insights to inform decision-making, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of transformation initiatives. Proficiency in advanced analytics and visualisation tools is an advantage.
  • Contribute to the preparation of business cases, project plans, and materials for leadership review.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Operate with a commercial mindset, understanding the broader business context and client impact.
  • Actively contribute to the development of others through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Transferable skills required for this role

  • Solve through complexity, ask thoughtful questions, and clearly communicate how things fit together.
  • Apply sound judgment, recognizing when to take action and when to escalate to transformation directors.
  • Have a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Operate with a commercial mindset, understanding the broader business context and client impact.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or other advanced analytics or visualisation tools would be advantageous.
