Master Instructor Driver Development Programs

Role Overview
The Master Instructor, Driver Development Programs is the highest-level instructional authority within Purolator’s Driver Development portfolio. This role provides national leadership in driver training, evaluation standards, and instructional excellence across all vehicle types and license classes. The Master Instructor is responsible for upskilling Operations Trainers, Frontline Managers, and Health and Safety personnel to ensure consistent, compliant, and high-quality driver evaluations across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the national Master Instructor for all Driver Development programs.
- Establish and uphold national standards for driver evaluations, scoring, and certification.
- Conduct advanced and high-risk driver evaluations as required.
- Upskill and certify Operations Trainers, Frontline Managers, and Transportation Safety Specialists on programs and evaluations.
- Lead evaluator calibration sessions to ensure national consistency.
- Provide coaching and developmental feedback to evaluators, instructors, and leaders.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for driver training programs, evaluations, and instructional delivery.
- Partner with the L&D Consultant to design and update curriculum, facilitator guides, and evaluation tools.
- Collaborate with Operations, Safety, HR, and Fleet to assess emerging driver behavior trends and evolving vehicle technologies (including electric platforms and advanced in-cab systems), converting insights into future-ready learning strategies and vehicle familiarization programs.
- Deliver classroom, virtual, and on-road training programs nationally.
- Support the rollout of new Driver Development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate Policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
- Maintain training records and administrative duties for the LMS and driver development programs documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid AZ/Class 1A Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) and a clean driving abstract.
- Demonstrated experience conducting commercial driver evaluations.
- Proven experience delivering technical or skills-based training.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle operation across multiple vehicle types and license classes.
- 5+ years of commercial driving experience, with multi-vehicle exposure preferred.
- Experience in a trainer-of-trainers or evaluator certification capacity.
- Experience contributing to curriculum or instructional material development.
- Adult Education Certificate (or equivalent instructional certification) required, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of appointment.
- Ability to travel nationally as required and work various hours.
- Must be fully bilingual in French and English (written and verbal).
- Ability to obtain a criminal record check, employment verification, and Police Clearance Certificate.
