Overview

Public Sector People is partnering with Mosman Council to recruit a Senior Community Engagement Officer. This role strengthens community connections through inclusive engagement and impactful communications within a forward-thinking local government organisation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Engagement, you will:

  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with Council objectives.
  • Coordinate inclusive consultation activities such as surveys, workshops, focus groups, and pop-up sessions.
  • Provide expert advice on best practice engagement, risk management, and evaluation.
  • Draft and deliver clear, accessible communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Manage Council’s online engagement platform and report on consultation outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure community voices inform decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement in engagement and communications practices.

What You’ll Bring

You should hold degree-level qualifications in communications, public relations, social sciences or have equivalent experience. A strong track record in planning and executing community engagement and communications projects is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in digital engagement tools and social media, and the ability to manage multiple projects are essential.
