About The Role

The Project Officer - Civil will be responsible for the continuity of delivering the council’s construction and maintenance activities on Council’s State, Regional, and Local road network, collaborating with internal and external asset owners and coordinating Council contracts.

The Project Officer – Civil will provide technical and professional services and advice to internal and external stakeholders, deliver projects with time, cost and quality constraints, identify and implement service delivery strategies and operational practices and execute effective decision-making and resolve complex operational problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Capital Works construction and maintenance activities on Councils State, Regional and Local road network, in collaboration with internal and external asset owners
  • Lead the development, delivery, and reporting of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects to achieve timely, high-quality, and cost-effective outcomes aligned with internal client expectations.
  • Coordinate the effective delivery of council contracts
  • Deliver construction and maintenance activities in line with relevant quality assurance framework, including industry specification and best practice
  • Undertake efficient cost management practices to deliver projects within budget constraints
  • Implement and maintain effective risk management practices in line with Council’s integrated risk management system
  • Undertake effective stockpile inspection and monitoring in line with Council’s environmental management systems
  • Provide effective leadership and management of council employees, contractors and specialist service providers
  • Identify and initiate process improvement
  • Manage councils approved contractors in line with council’s procurement obligations and contractor management systems
