About the Role

The Communications Officer role at Public Sector People is a 9 month contract opportunity with potential for extension. In this role, you will develop and implement strategic communications plans, manage media enquiries, and craft engaging content for multiple audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft high-quality media releases, press kits, and communications materials.
  • Manage media enquiries and build productive relationships with journalists.
  • Develop content for both digital and traditional media platforms.
  • Implement and assess communications and marketing plans.
  • Identify and create compelling stories showcasing services and achievements.
  • Contribute to overall communication strategy and liaise with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in media relations and public relations.
  • Local government experience is a plus.
  • Experience in developing multi-channel communication campaigns.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
