Job Summary
The Case Manager will provide personalized assistance to patients and their caregivers navigating complex and rare medical conditions. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Patient Services, this role involves managing healthcare insurance, performing administrative tasks, and interacting with various stakeholders including Patients, Caregivers, HCPs, Field Sales, Payers, Specialty Pharmacies, and Patient Engagement teams. The Case Manager will represent PTC to patients and internal/external customers, and serve as a resource for teammates and Team Leaders.
Responsibilities
- Directly assist patients and caregivers in obtaining access to PTC products.
- Build positive working relationships with patients, caregivers, HCPs, patient engagement, and sales teams to coordinate patient care and information.
- Address patient access and adherence issues with urgency and effective problem-solving.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining patient confidentiality and legal compliance.
- Efficiently navigate the CRM system and learn internal business rules and processes.
- Report Adverse Events and Product Quality Complaints as required.
- Adhere to PTC’s Standard Operating Procedures and Business Rules.
- Accurately interpret patient insurance, prescription, and other health-related documentation.
- Manage all aspects of patient cases, ensuring prompt and professional follow-up.
- Perform clerical and administrative functions such as mailing and faxing.
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in orphan/rare diseases, including conditions, treatments, and patient/caregiver communities.
- Apply expertise to drive positive patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of Case Management experience, preferably in an orphan/rare disease biotech environment.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving and solution skills in Case Management.
- Hands-on experience with pharmacy billing, prior authorization, appeals, and peer-to-peer reviews.
- Ability to anticipate patient needs and respond flexibly and creatively to solve problems.
- Experience working with Sales Representatives.
- Proven Case Management experience in a rare disease setting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in accurate and rapid data entry into CRM systems.
- Clear and pleasant speaking voice.
- Active listening skills.
- Adaptability to a quickly changing environment.
Special Knowledge Or Skills (Preferred)
- Bilingual/Spanish Speaking.
- Pharmacy Technician certification.
- HCP Office Management experience.
- Registered Dietitian License.
Travel Requirements
Domestic travel up to 10%.
Compensation and Benefits
Expected Base Salary Range: $75,100 - $96,000. The final salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for short- and long-term incentives and may enroll in PTC’s medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings plans.
