Job Description
Summary of the Project Manager, Utility-Scale Solar Projects Role
Protecnium, an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services, is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager for utility-scale solar infrastructure projects in South Carolina, USA. This on-site role focuses on the overall planning, execution, and delivery of multiple solar projects, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, budget compliance, and alignment with contractual obligations and company objectives, particularly during the civil phase of construction.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution activities from mobilization through completion.
- Manage project scope, risk, and change control processes to maintain alignment with contractual commitments.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Monitor project performance metrics including cost forecasts, schedule progress, and productivity indicators.
- Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
- Negotiate and manage subcontract agreements, claims, and change orders.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all project activities.
- Oversee communication with clients, authorities, landowners, and utility companies.
- Support Construction Managers with technical decisions, resource allocation, and issue resolution.
- Lead project close-out activities including documentation, handover, and lessons learned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- For Senior Project Manager: Minimum 12+ years of experience.
- For Project Manager: Minimum 8+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in EPC projects, with a preference for solar or heavy infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale civil or renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- English level: C1 (Advanced).
- Valid U.S. work permit required.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel between multiple project locations.
