Job Description

Overview

Protecnium, an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services, is seeking a Design Engineer Manager for heavy civil construction projects in the tender phase. This role is based on-site in Perth and Brisbane and is focused on iconic infrastructure projects including sports facilities, healthcare infrastructure, and airport developments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design development from concept to detailed design.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural and civil engineers, and MEP specialists for integrated solutions.
  • Provide technical input during tender phases, including design alternatives and value engineering.
  • Prepare design documentation, specifications, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian codes, standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve technical queries.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, design reviews, and digital modelling processes using tools like Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, Tekla, and Rhino.
  • Drive innovation in sustainability, materials, and structural efficiency.
  • Mentor junior designers and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent.
  • Experience in designing complex public infrastructure such as stadiums, arenas, healthcare facilities, or airports.
  • Background in civil, structural, architectural, or building services engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian Building Code and various project delivery processes.
  • Proficiency in design software (Revit, Tekla, Rhino, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills in multidisciplinary teams.

Working Conditions & Benefits

  • On-site position in Perth or Brisbane.
  • Long-term engagement with project relocation ensured upon completion of current projects.
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Competitive salary with 12% superannuation and private health insurance.
  • 20 days paid annual leave, 10 sick days, plus company laptop and phone.
