About the Enterprise Data Architect Role

Prosperity Life is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect with deep Life and Annuity insurance expertise and advanced knowledge of Databricks and AWS. This role will lead the design and implementation of Prosperity’s next-generation data platform and will manage a team of data engineers and analysts comprised of both internal resources and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Platform Design: Define and evolve the enterprise data architecture including canonical models for policy, claims, billing, customer, agent, and financial domains. Lead the design and development of modern, cloud-native data platforms using Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, and Lambda. Architect scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and publishing of structured and unstructured insurance data.

Domain Expertise – Life & Annuity: Bring expert understanding of Life and Annuity products, policy administration systems and actuarial processes. Partner with actuaries, underwriters, and finance teams to support modeling, valuation, reserve calculation, and experience studies. Ensure data solutions meet regulatory compliance and accuracy for GAAP, Statutory, and IFRS reporting.

Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with senior executives and business leaders to align data architecture with strategic priorities. Influence platform investment decisions and architectural direction to support acquisitions, digital engagement, and data monetization. Support initiatives such as core system modernization, data governance, and AI/ML enablement.

Governance & Standards: Define and implement data architecture standards, metadata management, and lineage practices. Contribute to developing data quality frameworks, master data management, data catalogs, and an enterprise business glossary. Ensure solutions comply with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (GLBA, HIPAA, GDPR).

Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with data engineers, BI analysts, software developers, and architects to deliver end-to-end data solutions. Mentor junior data architects and contribute to a data-first engineering culture.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Actuarial Science or related field; 8+ years of experience in data architecture with 3+ years in the Life and Annuity insurance industry; proven leadership in managing teams delivering scalable data and analytics platforms; hands-on experience with Databricks and AWS (Spark, Delta Lake, S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR); strong data modeling skills and familiarity with insurance systems such as LifePro, ALIP, OIPA, or iSeries.

Preferred: Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Databricks Certified Data Engineer); experience with actuarial workflows; knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation) and lineage frameworks; exposure to AI/ML and predictive modeling; familiarity with ACORD standards/specifications.
