About the role
Director of Growth Strategy
Most agencies can buy media. Very few can sit in front of a CEO spending $2M/month and change how that budget gets allocated. That’s the role.
This isn’t about managing campaigns or reporting on performance. It’s about turning data into decisions that directly impact revenue, contribution margin, and company valuation.
You’ll operate as a strategic extension of executive teams - translating complex data into clear, high-stakes recommendations that shape how brands grow.
The Opportunity
The agency is building a dedicated growth strategy function from scratch. This role is the foundation. You’ll work directly with the CEO to:
- Own client strategy at the executive level
- Elevate the entire paid media team’s thinking
- Build the frameworks, models, and playbooks that define how the agency operates
This is not a lateral move - it’s a leadership track toward Head/VP of Growth Strategy.
What’s In It For You
- Strategic Ownership: Act as the primary advisor to CEOs and CMOs on growth decisions.
- Build from Zero: Create the agency’s growth strategy function and internal IP.
- Leadership Path: Clear trajectory to Head and VP-level roles.
- High Impact: Your work directly influences multi-million dollar decisions.
- Remote + High Trust: Output-driven culture with full autonomy.
- Zero Politics: Small, elite team focused only on performance.
What You're Getting Into
Executive-Level Strategy
- Lead weekly calls with CEOs, CMOs, and founders.
- Deliver strategic narratives that connect performance to P&L impact.
- Design initiatives like incrementality testing, attribution overhauls, and MER optimization.
Data → Decision Making
- Turn platform and Shopify data into clear business insights.
- Build financial models for forecasting, budget allocation, and scenario planning.
- Diagnose growth bottlenecks across creative, offers, and funnel performance.
Team & System Building
- Act as the strategic counterpart to senior media buyers (you own the what and why).
- Mentor the team to think beyond platform metrics.
- Build playbooks, templates, and frameworks that scale strategic output.
Who You Are
- 5+ years in growth strategy, performance marketing, or DTC-focused roles.
- Experience working with accounts spending $500K+/month.
- Deep understanding of DTC economics (Shopify, contribution margin, LTV, P&L).
- Strong grasp of MER, incrementality, and attribution frameworks.
- Advanced in Excel/Sheets (modeling, forecasting, cohort analysis).
- Comfortable presenting to C-level stakeholders.
- You prefer building systems and frameworks over following them.
Strong Signals
- Background in agency strategy, media buying, or consulting.
- Experience translating raw data into executive-level narratives.
- Active use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate output.
- Obsessive about understanding what actually drives growth.
This Role Isn’t For You If
- You think in CTR and ROAS but not in contribution margin or LTV.
- You need direction before acting instead of forming your own hypotheses.
- You’re more comfortable reporting on data than challenging decisions with it.
- You prefer structured environments over building systems from scratch.
