Position: DSST Technical Writing Subject Matter Expert
Prometric is seeking experienced Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) specializing in Technical Writing for the development of DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) examinations. This remote contract role, active from October 2025 to November 2026, involves creating high-quality multiple-choice items for college/university-level assessments.
As a DSST Technical Writing Subject Matter Expert, you will collaborate closely with Prometric’s test development team to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and quality of test items. This remote position will utilize Prometric’s online item authoring system for periodic assignments and virtual collaboration, including scheduled conference calls.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review multiple-choice test items in Technical Writing aligned with DSST exam specifications.
- Ensure content accuracy, clarity, and alignment with learning objectives.
- Participate in virtual meetings and provide constructive feedback to Prometric’s test developers.
- Meet project deadlines consistently and uphold high standards of academic rigor.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Technical Writing or a related relevant discipline.
- College or university teaching experience in the subject area within the past 3 years.
- Access to current foundational text and/or resource materials (e.g., VitalSource, college/university library).
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to meet project deadlines consistently.
