About the Role

This Data Analyst position is a full-time, remote opportunity focused on supporting data-driven decision-making within the renewable energy sector. The role is designed for professionals at the mid-career level who are passionate about leveraging data to drive operational efficiency, sustainability, and business growth. The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in collecting, processing, and interpreting large datasets related to renewable energy production, consumption, and market trends, directly impacting strategic initiatives and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and validate large volumes of data from diverse sources, including IoT devices, SCADA systems, energy market feeds, and internal business systems.
  • Analyze energy production, consumption, and efficiency metrics to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization within renewable energy operations.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to define data requirements and deliver actionable insights that support project planning and performance monitoring.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing key insights, forecasts, and recommendations for senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques to forecast energy output, demand, and market fluctuations.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the renewable energy sector.
  • Continuously monitor data quality and implement improvements to data collection and processing workflows.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and renewable energy.
  • Support the development and automation of data pipelines and ETL processes to streamline data availability and reporting.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within the energy, utilities, or environmental sectors, with a strong understanding of renewable energy concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python (pandas, NumPy), and Excel for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of data cleaning, validation, and transformation techniques to ensure high data quality and reliability.
  • Experience working with large datasets from IoT devices, sensors, or SCADA systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, forecasting models, and statistical methods relevant to energy production and consumption.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing data-related challenges.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance requirements in the energy sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in data analytics, business intelligence, or renewable energy analytics are advantageous.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, preferably in the energy or sustainability sectors.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering actionable insights and supporting business decision-making through data.
