Position Summary

The Mechanical Startup Lead is responsible for managing mechanical activities on site during the Startup & Commissioning of LM6000 gas turbines. This includes reviewing engineering documents, troubleshooting plant systems, planning and directing resources, and ensuring safe and effective startup, commissioning, and performance testing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Review plant engineering documents and P&IDs.
  • Perform start-up testing and troubleshooting on LM6000 gas turbines.
  • Attend daily startup meetings and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Direct mechanical techs and crafts during startup activities.
  • Develop startup procedures, schedules, and documentation.
  • Maintain startup packages and controlled drawings.
  • Oversee third party testing and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Procure and maintain spare parts and consumables.
  • Provide scheduling and status reports to the Startup Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience OR 8 years without a formal degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in startup mechanical work on LM6000 gas turbines.
  • Hands-on experience with LM6000 package equipment and rigging turbines.
  • Experience in borescope inspection on aeroderivative units.
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, computer, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work long hours, in extreme weather, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Fluency in English and U.S. work authorization required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
