Key Responsibilities of a Cybersecurity Data Analyst
- Support the aggregation and in-depth analysis of cybersecurity assessment data to accurately evaluate organizational cybersecurity posture.
- Proactively monitor cybersecurity assessment data flows and recommend strategic quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform sophisticated statistical analyses on large cybersecurity datasets, including precise calculations of standard deviations, trend identification, and deviation analysis.
- Conduct thorough event log analyses to determine telemetry, reconstruct the chain of events, assess impact, identify threats, and outline recovery or mitigation steps, primarily utilizing Splunk.
- Deliver actionable insights and data-driven recommendations to continuously improve the overall cybersecurity posture.
Qualifications Required for the Cybersecurity Data Analyst Role
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience performing statistical analysis on extensive cybersecurity datasets.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience conducting federal cybersecurity assessments, specifically measuring compliance with NIST 800-53 rev 4 or newer.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with FISMA compliance assessments.
- At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, demonstrating a proven ability to assess compliance, meticulously document findings, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Possession of an active Public Trust Clearance and/or the ability to be cleared for a Government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications for a Standout Candidate
- Demonstrated experience with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework.
- Prior experience as a SOC Analyst, proficient in using Splunk.
- Experience in identifying and accurately mapping enterprise data flows.
- Proficiency with event log analysis and various SIEM tools, including Splunk.
