Senior Software Engineer, Backend Systems

Location: Remote (U.S. Only)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help build the robust, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure that powers our core software platform.

In this role, you'll leverage your expertise in backend development, distributed systems, memory optimization, and network communication to design and develop high-throughput APIs and core backend services. You'll collaborate closely with our Software Architect and engineering team to build reliable infrastructure supporting the entire software ecosystem.

This is a critical engineering role requiring strong technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to support key product launches and mission-critical deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Software Architect to design, develop, and maintain core API services and backend daemon infrastructure.
• Build high-performance asynchronous APIs using technologies such as REST, gRPC, WebSockets, and real-time telemetry streaming.
• Develop scalable backend services for job orchestration, user quota management, and complex multi-tenant operations.
• Optimize applications for memory efficiency through effective memory allocation, pooling strategies, profiling, and garbage collection techniques.
• Design and enforce secure multi-tenant isolation to ensure reliable resource separation across customer environments.
• Support critical product launch activities and ensure infrastructure stability during high-demand operational periods.
• Implement software security best practices throughout the development lifecycle to maintain data integrity, privacy, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed systems and backend services.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen (required).
• 7+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python.
• Strong experience building asynchronous, high-concurrency backend services.
• Extensive experience designing memory-efficient applications, including memory profiling, allocation optimization, and reducing memory footprint.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and network communication protocols, including:
• REST APIs
• gRPC
• WebSockets
• Experience deploying applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to develop software across multiple programming languages and quickly learn new technologies as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting complex distributed environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• C++
• Go
• Rust

Experience working within polyglot software architectures is a strong plus.
