Human Resources Generalist

Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, a faith-based, premier nonprofit organization providing senior living and services in Michigan, has a great opportunity to join our team as the Human Resources Generalist at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, Southfield Michigan. We invite you to help us create new possibilities for quality living for the seniors we serve. As the Human Resources Generalist, you will be responsible for providing human resources administrative support functions in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The scope of this role includes multi-site recruitment, file management and compliance, data entry and systems management, orientation, and all functions of the human resources department as directed by your supervisor.   • Assists departments in targeting recruitment efforts, including advertising or posting job vacancies, selecting applicants meeting specified job requirements, and interviewing job applicants to obtain and verify information used to screen and evaluate them.
  • Collects information from regulatory offices, previous employers, and other references to determine applicant’s employment acceptability. Informs job applicants of their acceptance or rejection of employment. Maintains applications as required by record retention policy.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Conducts new hire orientation to explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees and recognition programs.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Processes, verifies, and maintains personnel-related documentation, including legally required documents, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee leaves of absence.
  • Records data for each employee, including information such as addresses, absences, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, as needed.
  • Answers questions regarding benefits, policies, and other pertinent information.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Updates and manages all software systems and HR website, and provides regular data and reports.
  • Provides assistance in administering employee benefit programs and worker’s compensation claims.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Attends and participates in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
**Qualifications:**
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.
  • HR Certification a plus (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, or advanced certification is a plus, not required).
  • Two to four years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems (UKG, Workforce, PayActiv, iCims, Relias Learning, Basic).
