Role Overview

The Senior Computational Linguist/Prompt Engineer is responsible for crafting, refining, and testing prompts to extract high-quality insights from large language models regarding language learning. This role supports Preply’s AI-driven educational platform through dataset creation, validation pipelines, and prompt optimization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Write, evaluate, and optimize prompts for LLMs targeting language learning.
• Apply prompt engineering techniques such as few-shot prompting and chain-of-thought.
• Develop and maintain datasets for prompt validation and quality control.
• Automate prompt testing and quality validation using Python scripting.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and learning designers.
• Stay updated on prompt engineering best practices and NLP advancements.

What You Need to Succeed

• Strong understanding of prompt engineering principles and LLM prompting techniques.
• 2-3 years experience in computational linguistics or prompt engineering roles.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and dataset management.
• Experience with annotation workflows, quality control, and dataset validation.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, English, Spanish, or related fields.
• Excellent command of English with strong linguistic precision.
