Team Overview

The Product team guides direction, coordination, output, quality, and enhancements to PowerSchool’s product portfolio. They ensure effective rollout of new products, package offerings to appeal to consumers, and set the pace of innovation.

Description

The Research Director leads the design and execution of complex research projects on K-12 education topics. This role is responsible for:

  • Project Leadership & Research Design: Lead project design, decide methodologies, and ensure data quality.
  • Compliance & Budget Management: Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and contractual agreements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with education stakeholders and clients.
  • Communications & Reporting: Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Strategic Leadership & Growth: Identify research opportunities and align projects with organizational goals.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Mentor a multidisciplinary team including researchers, data scientists and project contributors.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree with extensive experience in executing research studies using rigorous quantitative methods, plus at least 5 years leading research projects in the K-12 education domain. Specialized knowledge in school finance or administrative policy is preferred.

Skills And Abilities

  • PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methodologies and research design.
  • Familiarity with data science, machine learning techniques, and programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, or Stata.
  • Proficiency with version control and project/task management software.
  • Ability to translate technical and academic information for diverse audiences.

Compensation & Benefits

Base compensation is estimated between $142,700 and $192,500 USD. Benefits include comprehensive insurance, 401(k), generous parental leave, discretionary time off, wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, and more.
