M&A Project and Business Development Associate

Powerlines Group GmbH (company location Wolkersdorf, 20 km from Vienna) is looking for you in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions / Business Development for the markets Germany, Austria, UK, Scandinavia.

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on M&A Project and Business Development Associate to support our corporate growth initiatives. This role will play a critical part in identifying, analyzing, and executing mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic investments. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for strategic business development.

Your responsibilities in the M&A area:

  • Market Analysis: Research industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to identify potential targets for (outbound) mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Due Diligence: Support due diligence processes by coordinating with cross-functional teams, reviewing financial statements, and analysing key risks and synergies.
  • Strategic Support: Evaluate potential deals (pipeline of investment opportunities) based on alignment with the company’s strategic goals and provide realisable recommendations to the senior leadership team.
  • Transaction Support: Create and coordinate investment committee presentations with internal stakeholders, manage and coordinate transaction processes and project management.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with group subsidiaries, headquarters, external advisors, and potential partners.
  • Post Merger Integration: Support and structure post-merger integration initiatives and programs.

Your responsibilities in Business Development:

  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of comprehensive business plans, incorporating market analysis, financial projections, and key performance indicators to support decision-making.
  • Strategy and Management Presentations: Create and deliver high-quality presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders, outlining strategic opportunities and relevant insights.
  • Major Projects/Offers: Create and deliver high-quality presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders for internal project committees. Coordination of project governance processes.
  • Implementation Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement key initiatives, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including new markets, product lines, or customer segments, to support growth and revenue diversification.
  • Performance Metrics: Track and report the performance of business development initiatives, ensuring they meet or exceed defined goals.

What else should you bring along besides high passion for business development and M&A:

  • Completed economic and/or technical study degree (Bachelor, Master, …).
  • Strategic interest in topics such as the energy and mobility transition and decarbonisation solutions.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in an analytical work environment or Big4 / Consulting, investment banking, corporate M&A or corporate development.
  • Corporate finance know-how incl. financing structures and ideally financial modelling experience appreciated.
  • A hands-on mentality and result driven attitude with a proactive approach to drive business development.
  • Fluent German and English are a given.
  • International experience required and willingness to travel in Europe.
