The Data and Analytics Translator operates within the Business Intelligence Team at Pontoon Solutions, focusing on bridging the critical gap between technical teams and various business functions. This position demands a unique blend of business acumen and data expertise, serving as the essential link between the Program Team and Business Intelligence Developers. The core responsibility involves defining complex data-related requirements that effectively translate strategic business priorities into actionable insights and solutions for clients. Direct interaction with internal program teams and client stakeholders is an integral part of this role.

What You'll Be Doing

• Partners with BI Leaders, BI Developers, BI Advisors, and Subject Matter Experts to assess data feasibility and ensure that Business Intelligence products consistently meet client requirements.
• Leverages working knowledge to translate business questions and goals into precise data requirements, guiding Business Intelligence technical teams in designing reporting and analytics solutions aligned with established Pontoon Business Intelligence & Analytics best practices.
• Proactively investigates issues to gain a deeper understanding of business and data challenges.
• Identifies crucial data elements necessary for building robust reporting and analytics solutions.
• Liaises with VMS (Vendor Management System) and ATS (Applicant Tracking System) vendors to comprehend data structure and definitions, integrating this knowledge into BI reporting solution designs.
• Produces comprehensive documentation and specifications for data elements and logic utilized in BI solutions.
• Develops an in-depth understanding of how each data set should be applied within reporting and analytical solutions.
• Offers recommendations for refining the underlying data model as required.
• Ensures that the output from reporting and analytical solutions is clear, understandable, and usable by end-users.
• Validates reporting and analytical solution results against real-world scenarios, adjusting data logic to accurately reflect business reality.
• Takes ownership of the successful delivery of reporting and analytics projects.
• Responsible for designing a standard metric playbook for each line of business.
• Supports the continuous improvement of dashboards that empower our clients.
• Analyzes and assists data warehouse and BI development teams by interpreting rules for data integration and conversion, evaluating incoming data from diverse sources to support data modeling.
• Performs data analysis, data profiling, analyzes and troubleshoots issues with current and planned data sources, and maintains high levels of ongoing data quality within BI products.
• Designs and conducts data verification processes to certify the integrity of system data (true to source).
• Maintains a log of data issues and provides timely guidance to the BI team on the impact of these issues and potential mitigation strategies.
• As a Data Subject Matter Expert, participates in peer reviews and other activities to ensure the BI team thoroughly understands the data and produces accurate, high-quality deliverables.
• Understands and articulates data linkages, hierarchies, sequencing, and nuances across new and existing data sources.
• Participates in special projects and performs other assigned duties.

About You: Qualifications and Expertise

To excel as a Data and Analytics Translator, you should possess the following:

EDUCATION & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Technology, or a related field, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a business intelligence analytics role and five (5) years of experience developing reports and dashboards in business intelligence tools.
• Prior experience collaborating effectively within a team toward shared goals and responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience working within a data-centric business environment.
• Proven experience managing multiple development projects concurrently is essential.
• Working experience with SQL, Python, R, or Java scripting is a mandatory requirement.
• Direct experience working with and manipulating raw data, along with familiarity with data aggregation levels.
• Experience with technologies utilized in human resources or talent acquisition/management fields and their resultant data is highly desired.
• Experience in the staffing and contingent workforce industries is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Power BI and/or other Business Intelligence visualization tools.
