Uncover Hiring Manager

Job Description

About PolicyMe

PolicyMe is modernizing the insurance industry in Canada. We are a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions, aiming to change the long-unchanged Canadian insurance landscape. We're looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst to join our QA team and support the release of our innovative products. This is a fixed-term, 18-month maternity leave contract role.

What You'll Do

As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will gain expertise in testing new InsurTech products and help maintain a high-quality release cadence. You will contribute to building a QA program that ensures the robustness of our front-end customer experience and back-end systems. You'll also get exposure to our AI-supported QA automation initiative, combining hands-on manual testing with modern tooling.

  • Participate in daily QA standups and dedicated engineering team standups to stay informed on requirements, specs, and release plans.
  • Assist in building comprehensive testing plans with the QA team and design clear test cases for feature readiness assessment.
  • Manage all aspects of the test plan to enable on-time launches, including executing test cases, documenting progress, and communicating testing statuses to stakeholders.
  • Perform thorough manual testing across environments, devices, and browsers, including regression and exploratory testing.
  • Log, track, and retest bugs in Jira and Zephyr, collaborating with developers on prioritization and resolution.
  • Work with QA, product, and engineering teams to identify new tools or internal features to improve QA testing quality and speed.
  • Contribute to our AI-supported QA automation project (e.g., TestSigma), identifying scenarios for automation and supporting test creation/maintenance.
  • Support developers in improving automated testing and ensuring new features are added to the automated regression testing suite.
  • Work with product managers to identify critical bugs for resolution before deployment.
  • Help develop and execute a structured process for triaging bugs across the organization.
  • Detail bugs to support resolution, including replication and root cause analysis.

What We're Looking For

  • Quality Assurance Experience: Preferably 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance testing for web-based platforms, with a strong emphasis on manual testing.
  • Manual Testing Proficiency: Comfort with extensive manual testing, including developing and executing test cases across devices and browsers.
  • QA Automation Exposure: Some knowledge or training in QA automation or software development, with an interest in contributing to AI-supported automation.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to thoroughly think through niche scenarios based on customer usage.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable becoming familiar with technical topics and building a deep understanding of systems, without needing to code.
  • Fast Learner: Ability to ramp up quickly and ask clarifying questions.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to articulate test status, findings, and QA program updates to diverse audiences.
  • Initiative and Teamwork: Proactive in finding solutions, team-oriented, humble, supportive, and willing to go the extra mile.

Why Join PolicyMe?

  • Generous PTO (20 vacation days).
  • Comprehensive benefits plan with premiums paid in full.
  • Investment in professional development (L&D budget, AI tooling budget, performance reviews twice a year, ongoing feedback).
  • Extremely high performing, low-ego, remote-first team disrupting an old industry.
  • Option to work from home or our Toronto office.
  • Company covers costs for in-person experiential social events twice a year.

Compensation

The total target cash compensation for this role is $77,000 - $91,300 CAD, based on experience.
