About The Role
Point is seeking a senior, hands-on Head of Data to lead the analytics, data engineering, and data science teams. This role emphasizes driving better business decisions and measurable impact through data. You will inherit a modern data platform and a strong technical foundation, with a mandate to enhance analytical rigor, experimentation, and business impact. This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys setting strategic direction, staying engaged with the work, and ensuring data initiatives align closely with critical business problems. The Head of Data reports to the Chief Growth Officer.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for Point’s data function, covering analytics, data engineering, and data science.
- Operate and evolve a modern data stack including Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Estuary, Sigma, Hightouch, and PostHog, focusing on data modeling, metrics design, and analytical usability.
- Own company-wide metric definitions, experimentation standards, and analytics prioritization to ensure clarity, consistency, and accountability in decision-making.
- Lead and actively contribute to Point’s analytics function, ensuring insights, metrics, and experimentation profoundly influence business decisions.
- Develop more scalable infrastructure and workflows for data science, enabling higher-impact modeling, analysis, and experimentation.
- Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing data team.
About You
- 12+ years of experience in data roles, with senior leadership experience across analytics, analytics engineering, data engineering, and/or data science in high-growth technology companies (fintech experience is a bonus).
- Proven track record of building and leading data teams that deliver significant business outcomes.
- Deep expertise in metrics, experimentation, and decision-oriented analytics; you have developed analytical frameworks that directly influenced strategy and execution.
- Strong technical and systems foundation, capable of evaluating data architectures, tooling, and data science approaches.
- Track record of translating ambiguous business problems into clear analytical approaches and outcomes.
- Enjoys being hands-on when necessary and understands when to delegate effectively.
- A clear communicator and trusted leader who sets high standards and invests in team development.

Compensation
Compensation for the Head of Data role at Point is determined by skills, experience, and geographic location. The expected annual base salary ranges from $263,000 to $343,000 for Tier 1 locations (San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Seattle), $237,000 to $309,000 for Tier 2 locations, and $210,000 to $274,000 for Tier 3 locations. This base salary does not include equity, benefits, and perks. Compensation is benchmarked against competitive data, and final offers consider interview performance, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
