Role Overview
The Associate Peer Review Operations Specialist is a confident and organized self-starter, driven by continuous improvement. You will work remotely from the UK for a 12-month FTC with PLOS, a non-profit dedicated to open science.
Responsibilities
- Submission Management (40%): Ensure timely and efficient peer review processes, resolve queries and remove workflow barriers.
- Workflows (30%): Troubleshoot issues, recommend improvements, and maintain standard journal workflows.
- Projects (25%): Lead workflow projects, liaise with vendors, and monitor performance against KPIs.
- Other (5%): Support operational research outputs to promote scientific openness.
Knowledge and Skills
2+ years experience in peer review scientific journal publishing, excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and familiarity with Excel, Word, and file conversions. A science background and a proactive, collaborative mindset are essential.
Qualifications and Benefits
