About Playhaus

We’re building a new kind of networking/dating/local-connection app designed to connect people in real time, based on proximity and shared intent. Our MVP is already designed and in development.

The Role

As Chief Technical Officer at Playhaus and co-founder, you will own the technical vision as we scale from prototype to product. You will act as the technical backbone of the company by:

  • Taking ownership of the MVP codebase developed with student engineers.
  • Defining the long-term tech architecture and roadmap (scalable, secure, efficient).
  • Building and leading our engineering team including mentorship and hiring.
  • Working closely with the CEO to align product vision with technical execution.
  • Making key decisions on stack, infrastructure, data security, and integrations.
  • Contributing to fundraising by showcasing our tech credibility to investors.
  • Sharing the risk and reward of building an ambitious product.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should have strong experience in mobile development (React Native, Flutter, or native iOS/Android), familiarity with real-time location services, APIs (Google Maps, Firebase), and chat/messaging systems. We value a startup mindset with resourcefulness and leadership potential. Commitment is essential, starting part-time with a goal of full-time as funds are raised.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior startup experience or lessons learned from past projects.
  • Experience with scalability and large user data sets.
  • Interest in social, networking, or community-building apps.
