About the Role
As the Trade Compliance Officer Germany for Planet Labs Germany GmbH, you will join the International Trade Compliance team within our global Legal organization. You will work with various internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with both German/EU and U.S. export control regulations. This role acts as the face of export control for Planet’s German manufacturing operations.
Impact You’ll Own
- Advise legal and business teams on export control compliance.
- Implement an effective Internal Compliance Programme aligned with BAFA and EU standards.
- Manage full lifecycle authorization processes for German/EU trade.
- Conduct classification analysis and licensing determinations for Planet products.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. re-export controls and other international trade laws.
What You Bring
- 10+ years in German/EU export control law and foreign trade experience.
- University degree and authorization to work with export-controlled technology.
- Professional proficiency in German and English.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous approach to compliance.
- Technical proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

- Experience as Chief Export Control Officer in a German company.
- Expertise in satellite, commercial, and defense sectors.
- Trade compliance certifications or legal/paralegal background.

This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring presence in our Berlin office or lab 3 days per week. The application deadline is March 10, 2026 by 23:59 Pacific Time. Planet Labs Germany GmbH is authorized to receive U.S. export-controlled information under applicable export licenses.
