Role Overview

As a Senior Credit Risk Manager - Payments on the Transfer Operations team, you will own portfolio-level credit risk management for Plaid Transfer. You will design and operate the credit risk underwriting program, managing policies, scorecards, and playbooks, evaluating customer solvency and business-model risk, and producing executive reporting on portfolio exposure and loss forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Own and enhance the credit risk underwriting program.
• Manage portfolio-level exposure for various payment rails.
• Evaluate complex use cases including crypto and platforms.
• Collaborate with Operations on holds, reserves, and limits.
• Develop executive risk reporting and dashboards.
• Enable operational scale through training and documentation.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance to operationalize risk.
• Continuously improve risk frameworks using data insights.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in credit risk underwriting or financial risk management.
• Experience in designing credit underwriting frameworks.
• Deep understanding of ACH payments and return risk.
• Strong analytical skills and executive reporting experience.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with large-scale payments processors.
• Expertise in complex risk use cases such as crypto or gaming.
• Knowledge of risk mitigation mechanisms.
• Background in financial modeling and stress testing.
• Prior mentorship or leadership experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary ranges from $115,824 to $228,000 per year with additional equity/commission compensation. Plaid offers a comprehensive benefits plan including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
