Responsibilities of a Biomedical Imaging Specialist II

As a Biomedical Imaging Specialist II, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing advanced medical equipment within an innovative healthcare network. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical tasks and operational support.

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM), calibration, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of biomedical and imaging equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance requirements, maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Review FDA, manufacturer, and recall notifications; investigate equipment-related incident reports to support patient safety.
  • Provide in-service training and technical presentations to staff on equipment operation and electrical safety.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, flexible scheduling, vendor training, and support across multiple hospital locations as needed.

Qualifications for a Biomedical Imaging Specialist II

To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong technical background and hands-on experience in medical imaging equipment maintenance and repair.

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree preferred; OEM or modality-specific training strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience performing component and/or board-level repair in medical imaging (5+ years preferred).
  • Experience supporting modalities such as Ultrasound, X-Ray, Cath Lab, Anesthesia, or related imaging systems.
  • Preferred certifications: CBET, CRES, Military (DoD) BMET, or OEM/vendor repair certifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, knowledge of QA/PM standards, and proficiency with CMMS/work order systems.
