What You’ll Do as a Veterinary Emergency Overnight Technician

As a Veterinary Emergency Overnight Technician at MVA, you’ll be on the front line of urgent patient care, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In this role, you will:

  • Triage incoming patients by assessing their medical needs and prioritizing treatments based on urgency.
  • Provide immediate critical care—administer fluids, medications, and other life-saving interventions while closely monitoring patient status.
  • Collaborate with emergency veterinarians and fellow technicians to devise and execute treatment plans for a variety of acute and complex cases.
  • Communicate compassionately with pet parents, offering clear updates, reassurance, and empathy during stressful moments.
  • Maintain a calm, organized workspace and ensure rapid access to the supplies and equipment needed for emergency interventions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and case discussions, sharpening your skills and staying current with the latest emergency protocols and best practices.

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following available schedules:

  • Wednesday– Saturday: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Thursday-Saturday: 8:00PM - 8:00 AM

Please note that some holidays are required.

Compensation

Starting at $22.50/hr + 25% shift differential, dependent upon licensure and experience

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking Veterinary Emergency Overnight Technicians who can excel under pressure and find fulfillment in delivering critical care. You likely have:

  • Experience in a fast-paced emergency or ICU setting, with a proven ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
  • Strong clinical skills, including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, laboratory sample processing, and anesthesia.
  • Effective communication for liaising with both clinical staff and concerned pet parents, especially in urgent or high-stress scenarios.
  • Confidence in triage and rapid assessment, recognizing subtle changes in patient condition and acting decisively.
