Machine Learning Engineer at Picnic Technologies

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Picnic Technologies, you will design and deploy intelligent systems to solve our company’s biggest challenges. Beyond building models, you will productionize them with strong monitoring and seamless integration into operational systems. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure the right problems are solved and that solutions deliver real-world impact.

You will leverage high-quality, registered, logged, and consistent data, allowing you to focus on building and improving models rather than extensive data cleaning. This role uniquely combines the skills of a consultant, software engineer, and applied mathematician.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and execute improvement possibilities in collaboration with other ML Engineers and (product) analysts.
• Collaborate on projects from inception through production to continuous improvement cycles.
• Develop tools and enhancements for our cloud-based Machine Learning platform.

Potential Project Areas

• Demand forecasting: delivery, article, and trip volumes across Picnic.
• Fraud detection: safeguarding our operations from malicious activities.
• Recommendation systems: generating useful in-app grocery suggestions.
• Search and ranking: helping customers find products efficiently.
• Predicting delivery drop-off times: ensuring on-time customer deliveries.
• Vision: implementing quality control and smooth warehouse operations.

What We're Looking For

• Master’s degree or higher in AI, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in data science or applied machine learning.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas non-technically and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders.
• Some experience with maintaining production-level ML solutions and a strong desire to learn solid software engineering and ML principles.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI is a plus.
