Editorial Production Assistant

Job Summary

The Editorial Production Assistant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and visual appeal of newspaper pages. This role involves proofreading content, executing the design and layout for pages, and inputting necessary revisions. These tasks are performed under the direct supervision of Section Editors and the Editorial Systems Head.

Responsibilities

• Proofreads editorial content meticulously for accuracy and adherence to style guidelines.
• Executes the design and layout for newspaper pages, ensuring visual coherence and readability.
• Inputs revisions on pages efficiently, incorporating feedback from Section Editors.
• Collaborates closely with Section Editors and the Editorial Systems Head on production tasks.
• Maintains knowledge of the PDI Stylebook for consistent application across publications.

Qualifications

• College graduate, preferably majoring in Journalism or Mass Communication.
• Preferably with working knowledge of publishing tools such as Adobe InDesign.
• 1 year experience as a proofreader.
• 1 year training in production work in a publishing firm.
• Knowledge in Pagemaker, Photoshop, or any related pagination or editing software.
• Strong knowledge of the PDI Stylebook.
• Excellent proofreading skills.
• Proficient layouting skills.
