Purpose of the job

As a Manager Data Governance, you will lead the GTR data governance and engineering vertical with end-to-end ownership of governed data delivery from Bronze to Gold. The role combines governance responsibilities, including standards, stewardship, quality, metadata, lineage, and access, with engineering delivery of pipelines, datasets, and semantic models. You will manage a mixed team and partner closely with business and IT stakeholders to improve data integrity, accessibility, and reuse across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and operate the GTR data governance framework aligned with global requirements, including policies, standards, roles, and decision forums.
  • Own data domain onboarding, defining critical data elements, data ownership, stewardship workflows, and escalation paths for data issues.
  • Lead and develop the Data Governance & Engineering team by setting clear objectives, prioritizing delivery, and coaching team members.
  • Establish and run data quality controls, monitoring, dashboards, and remediation workflows, and perform periodic assessments.
  • Define and enforce data access, classification, retention, and confidentiality requirements in partnership with security, compliance, and platform teams.
  • Oversee metadata management, catalog adoption, business glossary, and lineage using Atlan to drive transparency and reuse.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of trusted data products across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers on Snowflake, ensuring performance, reliability, and analytics and AI readiness.
  • Define and track governance and engineering KPIs, and promote adoption through training, communication, and a strong data ownership culture.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and stewardship operating models.
  • Solid SQL and data modeling skills, including dimensional and semantic modeling, with experience validating analytics-ready datasets.
  • Experience with data engineering and analytics engineering practices, including ELT/ETL patterns, orchestration, testing, and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience working with Snowflake and collaborating with platform teams on performance and access patterns.
  • Experience operating in a multi-country or global environment with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong people and stakeholder leadership skills, including prioritization, coaching, and cross-functional alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience across data governance and data engineering/analytics engineering in a complex, multi-country/global enterprise environment.
  • Prior people management experience leading a mixed team (stewardship + engineering) and delivering outcomes through a prioritized roadmap.
  • Experience implementing data quality and observability tooling and integrating controls into pipelines (tests, monitors, alerts).
  • Experience with data catalog/metadata platforms and operating a business glossary and lineage rollout.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake (preferred) and Atlan (preferred) in production, including governance integration (catalog/lineage) and secure data sharing/consumption patterns.
  • Certification in data management/governance (e.g., CDMP) and/or relevant cloud/data engineering certification.
