Program Overview: Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Team
Peraton is seeking an experienced Product Owner Lead to join our Defense Mission and Health Solutions Sector, specifically within the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) team. This role is crucial for defining product vision and managing the product backlog to ensure maximum business value.
Role Responsibilities for the Product Owner Lead
As a Product Owner Lead, you will serve as the primary advocate for the customer and the "voice of the project" within the Scrum team. Your responsibilities include a deep understanding of Medicare claims processing and translating complex CMS requirements into actionable development tasks.
- Backlog Management: Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog for high-value items.
- Requirement Definition: Translate business needs and CMS mandates into detailed user stories.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders, including CMS.
- Vision & Strategy: Define the product roadmap and long-term vision, aligning with maintenance and modernization.
- Acceptance Criteria: Define clear acceptance criteria for stories and ensure "Definition of Done" is met.
- Value Optimization: Make critical trade-off decisions on scope, schedule, and quality per Sprint.
Required Qualifications
- 9 years with BS/BA; 5 years with MS/MA.
- Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of the FISS system, claims processing, MSN logic, and financial/HIGLAS interfaces.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to research and perform deep dives into system logic.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to demonstrate system changes to CMS and facilitate discussions.
- Strategic Planning: Experience providing high-level effort estimates for project planning.
- Customer Focus: Anticipate end-user needs in a non-customer-facing environment.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning from a senior developer or analyst into Agile leadership.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps tooling (e.g., GitHub, Jira).
- History of successful collaboration on high-visibility projects (e.g., MSN redesigns, PI planning).
Location & Compensation
This role is based out of Windsor Mill, MD, with flexibility for fully remote, hybrid, or onsite work depending on the candidate's location. The target salary range is $86,000 - $138,000, determined by experience, education, and other factors.
