Program Overview

This role is a remote opportunity for a Software Test Engineer (Automation) on the BEAGLE Team supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The team uses agile methodologies to deliver releasable software in short sprint cycles, enhancing national safety and security.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated tests using Cucumber, Selenium, and other frameworks.
  • Create automated UI, backend, and API test scripts utilizing Java and relevant tools.
  • Integrate testing activities with CI/CD processes and manage test artifacts in Jira.
  • Perform full-scope testing including Unit, Integration, End-To-End, Smoke, Regression, and more.
  • Conduct peer reviews and document testing progress effectively.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) along with extensive experience in automated testing. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a CBP background investigation are required. Technical skills needed include Java, JavaScript, SQL, Selenium, Cucumber BDD, Serenity, and familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, AWS, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, Jira, Maven, and related testing tools.
  • Background in designing, implementing, and testing web services or mobile applications.
  • Strong communication skills; team player with a proactive work ethic.

Salary and Work Arrangement

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000 annually. The position is primarily remote for candidates outside the Washington, DC metro area. Local candidates must work onsite in Ashburn, VA one day per week.
