Program Overview

RDG (Risk Decision Group) provides nationwide background investigations compliant with national government standards to include support of continuous vetting for over 110 government agencies.

About The Role

Peraton is hiring a full-time Database Manager to support critical missions within Peraton's Risk Decision Group. The Database Manager leads the organization's database operations, proprietary system support, and team development. This role ensures reliable database performance, rapid issue resolution, and successful execution of new database driven projects while collaborating closely with IT leadership and the IT PMO. This position is 100% Remote.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of new database initiatives, migrations, enhancements, and system improvements.
  • Work closely with IT leadership and the IT PMO to align database projects with organizational priorities, timelines, and governance standards.
  • Provide strategic direction, foster collaboration, and maintain a high-performance culture within the database and support teams.
  • Implement and maintain procedures for identifying, documenting, distributing, and resolving database related issues.
  • Ensure maximum issue resolution within required Service Level Agreements.
  • Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of proprietary and internal database systems.
  • Evaluate new database tools, platforms, and services; recommend improvements to existing systems to enhance performance and usability.
  • Direct and implement policies for database support operations across the organization.
  • Manage deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and support for database servers, database software, and related components.
  • Track emerging database technologies, standards, and best practices to identify modernization opportunities.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members to strengthen database expertise and professional growth.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a T5 adjudication or Top Secret eligible clearance
  • 10 years of relevant experience, may have supervisory or lead experience
  • Deep understanding of database administration, performance tuning, and operational support
  • Experience implementing database policies, SLAs, and support workflows
  • Ability to manage proprietary systems and complex database environments
  • Strong communication, documentation, and vendor-management skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver successful database-focused projects
  • Experience collaborating with IT leadership and PMO organizations
  • Microsoft SQL Server expertise (on-prem and/or AWS, Azure)
  • Advanced T-SQL development and complex query design (CTEs, window functions, temp tables)
  • Strong background in ETL design and maintenance using SSIS, including incremental loads and CDC patterns
  • Knowledge of data integrity enforcement, transaction management, and metadata documentation
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning, execution plan analysis, index optimization, and resource contention resolution
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and release/deployment workflows
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

  • Experience with Visual Studio / SSDT and source control-driven database development
  • Proficiency in SSRS report development, parameterized reports, and performance troubleshooting

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
