Application Analyst

Pepperdine University is seeking an Application Analyst to implement, maintain, and support custom and third-party software applications that improve university business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Innovation and Solutions: Implement and support major custom and third-party applications including planning, analysis, design, data modeling, implementation, testing, training, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Research, Analysis and Reporting: Conduct needs analysis, review support requests, perform root cause analysis, and evaluate emerging technologies for application improvements.
  • Project Management: Own assigned projects from start to finish, estimate resources, and regularly report status using project management tools.
  • Communication and Relationships: Represent Pepperdine and IT professionally while collaborating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
  • Administration: Complete timely paperwork such as status reports, timesheets, and assessments in line with IT and University practices.
  • Collaboration: Provide backup support, collaborate on team projects, and share process improvement recommendations.
  • Professional Development: Attend training sessions, conferences, and seminars to stay current with industry trends.
  • Committees and Beyond Duties: Engage in tasks beyond core responsibilities including various University and IT committees.

The role supports the Christian mission of Pepperdine University and requires respect for workplace differences and effective cross-cultural collaboration.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in information systems or computer science (or equivalent), one or more years of systems administration/analysis experience, knowledge of distributed systems architecture, middleware or object-oriented analysis, and strong troubleshooting skills in a networked environment.

Preferred: Project management or vendor experience, troubleshooting application issues, production environment support, familiarity with SQL, programming languages, and testing methodologies.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, nonexempt, 40-hour per week position eligible for remote work per University policy. Compensation is based on an hourly rate with an expected range of $25.52 - $28.36 per hour and a competitive benefits package.
