About the Vice President Human Resources role
The position is at a tech services company. The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) acts as a senior HR executive accountable for operationalizing and implementing the enterprise human capital strategy defined by the SVP of HR. This role delivers day-to-day leadership across key HR functions, ensuring compliant, scalable, and business-aligned HR programs that support organizational growth, workforce preparedness, and risk management.
This individual works closely with the executive leadership team and cross-functional partners to ensure HR operations effectively enable business performance, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement. This position serves as the primary deputy to the SVP of HR, converting enterprise strategy into actionable policies, processes, and workforce initiatives.
Reports To Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all core HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, and compliance.
- Oversee investigations, disciplinary measures, and performance improvement processes.
- Lead the design, development, and rollout of forward-thinking HR programs, policies, and practices that enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Drive leadership development efforts and workforce planning strategies to address current and future organizational needs.
- Supervise HR technology systems (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and system effectiveness to meet business requirements.
- Guide organizational change initiatives and communication plans to support company expansion, restructuring, or strategic shifts.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HR team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Support OFCCP, EEO, AAP, VETS-4212, and other required regulatory reporting activities.
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and executive leadership to minimize workforce-related risks.
- Act as the organization’s subject matter expert on HR best practices and emerging trends, proactively advising leadership on evolving HR matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline required; Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
- 12-15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior executive capacity (e.g., Director, VP).
- Demonstrated experience leading HR strategy within complex and fast-paced environments (experience in the Government Contracting sector or organizations with 500+ employees preferred).
- Comprehensive knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development principles.
- Proven track record of building and scaling HR operations and infrastructure.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, results-driven approach.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when managing confidential information.
- Experience with HR technology platforms (TriNet) and system implementations is strongly preferred.
