Director, Business Development

People Corporation is seeking a Director, Business Development to join our team in Calgary. This role is ideal for an energetic sales professional who is motivated to guide a team to success and grow a portfolio in the group benefits market.

Role Overview:

  • Guide a team of 6-8 Business Development Consultants
  • Build long-term relationships with key senior decision-makers
  • Develop and execute sales strategies in the group benefits sector
  • Engage in consultative sales including RFP processes and high-quality presentations
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Underwriting, and Finance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and uncover strategic partnerships and growth opportunities
  • Oversee and support a team, ensuring achievement of annual goals
  • Manage entire sales cycles and develop comprehensive sales plans
  • Present proposals and pricing strategies to clients
  • Maintain accurate sales data via CRM and monitor pipeline activities

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of group insurance sales, with consulting experience
  • LLQP license (required)
  • Knowledge of procurement, governance and bidding processes
  • Exceptional sales, business, and financial acumen
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and French
