Position Summary

The Senior Operations Manager - Transportation provides tactical direction and leadership to staff to ensure customer requirements are met while achieving Penske goals. The role involves maintaining a professional approach, supporting the solution to meet contractual obligations, and fostering strong relationships with customer logistics managers to ensure operational stability.

Schedule & Compensation

Monday - Friday, Day Shift (flexibility required). Salary: $95,500 - $129,100 with bonus eligibility up to 30% of base salary. Excellent benefits available.

Major Responsibilities

People:

  • Ensure supervisors understand their alignment with customer objectives.
  • Interview, hire, and conduct exit interviews as needed.
  • Build engagement, recognize achievements, and develop direct reports.

Operations:

  • Interact daily with local customers to capture their needs.
  • Identify operational improvements including route optimization and carrier selection.
  • Collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices.

Finance:

  • Develop and execute annual financial and operating plans.
  • Manage operations to meet or exceed Business Plan targets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate customer billings and payroll processing.

Safety:

  • Monitor and improve accident frequency.
  • Ensure associates understand their roles in maintaining safety.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies.

Growth / Customer Experience:

  • Track value delivered to customers and seize profitable opportunities.
  • Utilize metrics to monitor customer efficiencies and achieve cost savings.

Fleet/Assets:

  • Monitor and improve fleet utilization and fuel efficiency.
  • Contribute to equipment specifications and build vendor relationships.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
