In 6 years of existence, we have achieved: positioning ourselves in the market as an innovative accounting and financial management solution provider, raising a total of 400 million euros from renowned investors, including Sequoia, the leading Silicon Valley fund known for supporting Google, Facebook, Airbnb, Stripe, Paypal and many others at their inception, growing from 7 co-founders to a team of 1000 employees with an average Glassdoor score of 4.9/5 and 94% of Glassdoor reviewers recommending PL to their loved ones, building an international team composed of employees from 25 different countries with a very flexible remote work culture, earning the trust of thousands of users and receiving excellent feedback, and serving over 1 million SMEs and more than 8000 accounting firms in France! Why is this role so important to us?
Pennylane is at a pivotal moment in its growth: our Strategy & Operations teams (Sales, CS, Marketing, Product) have a growing need to automate their processes and gain autonomy in AI to keep pace. This capability currently exists within the Growth & Automation team, but it still lacks clear ownership for governance, prioritization, and long-term team support. The Team Lead Automation role is the one that structures all of this. They will lead a team of 4 people covering Sales, CS, and Marketing, and play a central interface role with critical stakeholders: IT Security, Legal, Product, and Data. This role is also the engine for major strategic Go-To-Market projects: Expansion, Professional Account, Monetization... This role requires both management experience and the ability to navigate with technical and senior stakeholders in a developing environment. How will you contribute to the project?
You will join a Growth & Automation team in full structuring, with an ambitious roadmap and high-impact projects already underway. Your contribution will be at three levels: Structuring and growing the Automation team: You will directly manage 4 people, build team rituals, arbitrate priorities, and create the conditions for everyone to be effective and autonomous within their scope. Being the operational interface with key stakeholders: You will manage governance with IT Security, Legal, Product, and Data: triaging projects based on criticality, facilitating approvals, documenting rules. You must transform these relationships into a true partnership. Accelerating the autonomy of Strat & Ops teams on automation and AI: You will define the automation roadmap with each Strat & Ops Team Lead (Sales, CS, Marketing, Product) and then support these teams in becoming progressively autonomous. Driving strategic GTM projects: You will work in close collaboration with François (Head of Growth) on high-stakes business projects: Expansion, Professional Account, Monetization. What will be your daily tasks?
Team Management: You will lead team rituals (weekly meetings, 1:1s), define individual priorities, and ensure the follow-up of the skill development of your 4 direct reports. Stakeholder Governance: You will be the main interface with IT Security, Legal, Product, and Data. You will lead the project triage system, facilitate approvals, and document rules to make the team more efficient. Construction and Monitoring of the Automation Roadmap: You will define the automation roadmap with each Strat & Ops Team Lead (Sales, CS, Marketing, Product), help them arbitrate priorities based on business impact and available resources, and report on progress to François. Monitoring Ops Autonomy Ramp-up: You will identify with each team the subjects on which they can become autonomous, co-create training and processes, and measure progress. Project Delivery Monitoring: You will ensure that projects are delivered on time, with sufficient quality to be maintained by Ops, and with clear documentation. KPIs Ramp-up / Trial Period: Months 1-2 (Onboarding & Discovery): Complete mapping of each Ops team's needs. Team rituals in place. First relationships established with each key stakeholder. Months 3-6 (Delivery & Structure): Operational and documented stakeholder governance. Prioritized and shared Automation roadmap with Ops. At least one Ops team with a first level of autonomy achieved.Required Profile
Essential Skills: Proven experience in team management (3+ people), with practical experience in rituals, feedback, and individual development. Ability to manage senior and technical stakeholders in a demanding environment: you know how to arbitrate, convince, and document without getting lost in friction. Solid technical background: you understand how automations, APIs, and data flows work. You are not the best developer/growth hacker in the room, but you must be able to challenge and guide your individual contributors. Experience in a fast-growing B2B SaaS environment. Ability to structure a prioritization process and sustain it over time. Nice to have: Experience with automation tools (N8N or equivalent) and/or AI tools (Notion agents, Dust, LLMs). Knowledge of a Strat & Ops environment (Sales Ops, CS Ops, Marketing Ops). Expected Experience: 5+ years of experience, including at least 2-3 years in management. Profile from Ops, Growth, or technical project management. Behavioral Skills: Builder: you are comfortable building from scratch, without waiting for a perfect framework. Rigorous and structured: you know how to establish the right rules of the game without over-processing. Pedagogical: you know how to make autonomy accessible, even to non-technical profiles. Communicator: you simplify without over-simplifying, you know how to talk to a CMO as well as a developer. Impact-oriented: you prioritize what matters, you deprioritize without guilt.Recruitment Process
