About the Role
Penn State University is seeking a full-time non-tenure line Assistant Teaching Professor to serve as the Program Coordinator for its new Semester in Washington Program in Washington, D.C. The role involves managing program logistics, developing internship relationships, supporting student professional development, and providing academic instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Locate governmental and non-governmental internship opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with internship hosts
- Recruit and select students for the program
- Assist students with applications, interviews, and internship placement
- Coordinate student housing, classroom facilities, and transportation logistics
- Offer on-site support and guidance for personal, professional, and academic issues
- Organize extracurricular events like seminars, tours, and alumni activities
- Teach courses related to professional development and political science or public policy
Additional Details
This is a term position with the possibility of extension based on university need, performance, or funding availability. A Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field is required by the appointment date. Experience in career readiness and experiential learning is highly desirable. The starting date is October 15, 2025, with some flexibility.
