Overview
Penn Medicine, a leader in academic health care, research, and education, seeks an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Surgical ICU. Join a team of 40 advanced practice providers delivering care across three hospitals and four surgical ICUs with 4,000 annual admissions.
Role and Responsibilities
The role includes patient management, clinical decision making, bedside procedures (central lines, dialysis catheters, arterial lines, bronchoscopy, bedside fluoroscopy) and teaching patients, families, and staff. You will also participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based clinical leadership while attending weekly educational lectures on complex critical care management.
Clinical Environment
Work in a dynamic medical environment spanning the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Pennsylvania Hospital. The position involves a 50/50 mix of day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays (3 to 4 shifts per week) providing care to diverse surgical ICU populations including trauma, neurosurgical, and emergency abdominal transplant patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s prepared Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Pennsylvania licensure and certification as an ACNP or PA‑C
- Surgical Critical Care experience
- BLS, ACLS required; ATLS preferred
