Job Description
Temporary Full-Time Summer School Senior High Teachers
Vista Virtual School requires Temporary Full-time Summer School Senior High Teachers. These assignments are available in:
- Senior High Humanities (All levels of Senior high English & Social Studies courses, 30-1 an asset)
- Senior High Math (Math 30-1 and/or Math 30-2 an asset)
- Senior High Sciences (Experience in 20 and 30 level courses including: Biology/Chemistry/Physics an asset)
The duties are to commence June 29, 2026 and will end August 7, 2026. These are telecommuting (work from home) positions. Applicants must indicate the subject area they are applying for, as well as the courses previously taught. Applicants must be available to work ALL dates - no exceptions.
Qualifications
Vista Virtual School is an accredited public elementary, junior high and senior high school (including adult education and upgrading) that serves residents of Alberta. Our online environment gives students flexibility in where and when they learn.
- Must hold a valid Alberta teaching certificate
- Proficiency in the use of educational technology
- Understanding and application of assessment for learning as demonstrated by individualized instruction
- Successful experience in a distance education environment
The Successful Candidate
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Alberta Curriculum
- Diploma exam marking experience is an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel and work with students, and parents throughout Alberta
- Ability to teach to and address a wide range of student needs in a distance education environment
- Be a strong team member but able to work independently
- Be committed to a learner-centered philosophy
- Maintain close contact with students, parents, and other stakeholders
- Monitor, guide, and support students in their progress
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Moodle
- Preference will be given to individuals with experience in a distance learning environment
