Head Start Nurse LPN or RN - Syracuse

PEACE, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Head Start Nurse (LPN or RN) to join our team in Syracuse. This full-time position operates on school days, with hours from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Enjoy a temporary 4-week unpaid layoff each summer with unemployment benefits, and benefit from paid leave for all school-year holidays and breaks, plus additional accumulated paid leave.

Starting Pay Range

$20.92 to $23.54 per hour

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as an LPN or RN in New York State.
• Two years of related experience, preferably working with young children.
• Knowledge of child and family health, including prevention concepts.
• Experience with or an interest in learning skills such as hearing and vision testing.

Job Responsibilities

• Observe daily health status of assigned children, following up on problems noted with staff, parents, and other professionals.
• Utilize Health Coordinator and Assistant Health Coordinator for technical assistance.
• Perform required health screenings and maintain current physical and dental examination reports.
• Assist families in obtaining any identified medical care needed.
• Serve as an advocate for child health.
• Assist teachers in the preparation of children for various health procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining current health records for the designated site.
• Teach positive health practices to staff, children, and parents.
• Promote environmental health and safety at the designated site.
