Project Description
Fiji's Ministry of Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management is committed to its 10-year strategic plan, which prioritizes rural and maritime development. A key component of this plan involves developing data-informed policies to enhance rural community infrastructure and accessibility. Recognizing the challenge of retaining data experts due to competitive opportunities, the Ministry has identified a significant need for training local staff in data collection procedures.
As a Database Technical Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to strengthen the Ministry's existing database systems. You will play a crucial role in supporting policy formulation, project planning, and performance monitoring. Working collaboratively with your Fijian colleagues, you will manage and optimize the rural development database, focusing on ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security. A significant part of your role will involve teaching Ministry staff to coordinate, collect, and analyze data for a central repository, thereby building local capacity.
Required Skills for Database Technical Specialist
Competitive candidates for this Database Technical Specialist position will demonstrate one or more of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Administration, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or Business Education, along with formal training in entrepreneurship.
